How the CSE Reviewer Works

Taking a practice test takes only a few clicks. Here is how to get the most out of this Civil Service Exam reviewer.

Step by step

  1. Choose a reviewerOn the home page, pick a category: Verbal, Numerical, Analytical, Clerical Ability or General Information. Each category is split into parts.
  2. Start a partPress Start on any part. A timer begins and records how long you spend on that part.
  3. Answer each questionTap an answer. You immediately see whether it is correct, the right answer, and a tip or solution explaining why.
  4. Move around freelyUse Prev and Next, or click any number in the question list to jump to that question. The list shows which items are correct, wrong or still unanswered.
  5. Finish and see your resultAfter the last question, your score, number of correct and wrong answers and time consumed are shown against the 80% passing mark.
  6. Review and retakeGo through all your answers, then retake the part. The questions and choices are reshuffled so you are practicing, not memorizing positions.

How scoring works

The passing score in the Civil Service Exam is 80%. We use the same mark: score 80% or higher in a part and it is marked Passed, otherwise Failed. A part you started but did not complete is marked Unfinished, and you can press Resume to continue from the first unanswered question.

Your progress stays on your device

You do not need an account. Your answers, timers and shuffled questions are saved in your own browser, so you can close the page and continue later on the same device and browser. Clearing your browser data will also clear your progress. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Tips for studying with this reviewer

  • Take one part at a time and read every explanation, even for answers you got right.
  • Retake the parts you failed until you consistently reach 80% or higher.
  • Spend extra time on your weakest category. The statistics on the home page show where you are losing points.
  • Practice a little every day. Short, regular sessions work better than one long cram session.
  • Do a final timed run through all categories a few days before your exam.
